SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium Utah

We had the pleasure of heading up to Layton, Utah to visit the SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium.  I really didn’t know what to expect, but knowing how much my kids love going to our local zoos and farms, I knew that getting to check out fun animals and sea life was going to be a blast for them!

SeaQuest is located in the Layton Hills Mall in Layton, Utah.  The lobby area is set up with a gift shop and lots of fun things for kids to look at.  But of course the first thing that caught my eye was…

SeaQuestFiiz-664x1024That’s right mamas!!  You can grab your favorite Fiiz drink on the way in!  We’ve gotta keep ourselves hydrated and happy while having fun right?!   Once you’ve got your favorite soda in hand, you head on inside for all the fun!  The one thing you won’t see at SeaQuest are signs that say “Please don’t touch”.  When they say interactive they mean it!  If there is something that isn’t to be touched, they make the exhibits completely enclosed or tall enough that they can’t be reached inside.  There are so many of the exhibits that are perfectly child friendly and they encourage a “two finger touch” rule.  This makes it a perfect place for birthday parties…I already have requests from two of my kids to have their birthday there!  Feeding the Stingrays was so cool!  They are super cute and friendly!  Not only can you feed them, but you can actually schedule a session to swim with them!

One of the first things that we did was the bird encounter.  I took my 1.5 year old and my 3 year old into the small bird encounter…that may have been a mistake.  The birds are SO cute, but there are A LOT of them!  They land on your arms, shoulders, head, legs…pretty much everywhere!  I loved it!  My little ones not so much.  I’m super excited to take my older ones because I think they won’t be as nervous around all the little birds.  They also have a large bird encounter, there are fewer birds, so it’s not quite as overwhelming.

We also got to visit with and feed the iguanas.  This was a little more my smaller children’s speed.  The iguanas are pretty laid back and SUPER excited when you feed them.  They have a large iguana named Chester, and a bunch of smaller ones running around.  The kids had a blast peeking under the rock overhangs to find the smaller ones.

The tanks they have are so great.  We loved looking at all the different type of fish and sea life.  They have big viewing areas so that even smaller kids can see all the fun!  We loved the Glow Fish!  They were so bright, they looked like candy.

One of the kids’ favorite things was meeting a mermaid!  They had the sweetest mermaid in the world, she talked with each of the kids and gave them each a wishing shell…you certainly can’t go wrong when you have a wishing shell from a mermaid!  SJ was a little shy but he was still willing to sit by her for a picture.

While all of SeaQuest is very family friendly, there is one thing that is a little more for adults, and that’s the Fish Spa!  I was a little hesitant to try it at first.  What if it hurt?  Do the fish bite?  Well the answer is NO!  It was so fun!  It totally felt weird…think of a million tiny bubbles being shot up at your feet all at once, that’s kind of what it felt like.  The fish actually don’t have teeth.  They have a crazy intense suction and just LOVE your dead skin cells.  Also the water cycles out every 8 minutes so you don’t have to worry about sharing water with the person before you!  It was very relaxing, and definitely a cool experience!

There is so much more that I can’t wait to share with you all after we go back again.  Trust me when I tell you that you won’t be disappointed.  We are hoping to have some discounts and possibly a giveaway coming up for all of you, so be sure to keep your eyes open!  Make sure you check them out on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter too!  Also, if you aren’t local to Utah, they also have a location in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they are building one in Dallas, Texas too!
